Highlighting Active Travel across Dunoon

Support for everyday walking, cycling & wheeling

Here at Dunoon Area Alliance Community Development Trust we aim to build connections and share information to help make our community a great place to live, work, study and visit.

As part of our action we have brought together groups, organisations, businesses and individuals actively involved or interested in supporting and promoting active travel.

Active travel simply means making journeys in physically active ways - like walking, wheeling (using a wheelchair or mobility aid), cycling, or scooting. The aim is to make active travel the natural choice for short journeys.

By supporting more people in our area to walk, wheel, and cycle for everyday short journeys, we can improve health, create safer communities, and reduce environmental impacts.

With support from the Social Enterprise Academy Scotland we organised a training day involving council staff, business owners, community groups and individuals. Together we identified the active travel assets that already exist here in Dunoon and discussed the potential for new projects and initiatives. This group of people will continue to meet as a network to consider next steps in taking these ambitions for our area forward and new members are always welcome.

As a first step, we agreed to share a regular Active Travel e-newsletter to help highlight what is available, so here it is!

We hope that you might find something here inspire you to get walking or wheeling for those short, everyday journeys.

You can browse the range of local Active Travel Assets by clicking on the list of links below. Please get in touch if you know of anything that should be added or amended - this is a work in progress.
