Meet the newest kid on the block: Dunoon Community Development Trust has been set up by a group of local individuals concerned about the sustainable development of Dunoon and our surrounding area.
Sustainable development is about improving people’s quality of life, now and for future generations; it is about being ecologically sound, economically viable and socially just. To achieve this the Trust will initiate new community-led activities and build alliances between community groups, businesses and public bodies to work together on shared goals.
Working together since January this year, the Steering Group has developed charitable purposes and a constitution for the Trust and has succesfully registered Dunoon Community Development Trust as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO number SCO51050) with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
Now we want as many local people and constituted organisations to become members of the Trust to support action and help to Take Dunoon Forward
Why you should join
By becoming a member of the Trust you can have a say and actively support initiatives that will improve life for all in our town. As a member you will be able to:
Support community-led development across Dunoon
Keep up-to-date with plans, discussions and consultations
Add your viewpoint to the mix
Get involved as a volunteer within your community
Membership is free and open to anyone over 16 who lives, works or studies in Dunoon. Anyone from across the Cowal peninsula with an interest in the regeneration of our main town can also become a member. Junior members aged 14 and 15 are also encouraged to join and make their views heard.
The Trust will also actively involve local organisations and public bodies and constituted community groups and organisations are encouraged to become Associate Members.
An initial Action Plan is being drawn up by our steering group and will be sent out to all members for their comments. So, join straightaway to find out where we are at and to get involved from the start.
